Michelle Nelson is the owner and creator behind Dancing Lotus Artistry. She has an extensive art background, starting with a bachelor’s degree in fine art, a master’s degree in art therapy, over thirty years of painting experience, and a certificate in face painting.
Michelle lives in Grand Junction, Colorado with her husband and two pups, where she creates art on an array of canvases.

It’s best to book as early as possible—especially for weekends, holidays, and summer events. Popular dates can fill quickly, so securing your spot in advance is recommended.
This depends on the design style chosen:
- Simple designs: approximately 10–15 guests per hour
- Full face designs: approximately 5–8 guests per hour
For larger events, booking additional time helps ensure more guests get painted and reduces wait times.

Travel within 60 miles of Grand Junction is included. A travel fee of $0.70 per mile is applied after that.
For traveling events, a 50% deposit is required at time of booking.
Only professional, skin-safe, hypoallergenic face paints are used. These are designed specifically for use on skin and are easily removed with soap and water.
- Simple designs: 3–5 minutes
- Full face designs: 8–12 minutes
Timing may vary depending on detail level and guest preferences.

- Access to shade or indoor space for outdoor events
- A table and 2 chairs (can be discussed if needed)
Yes! Custom designs can be tailored to match your event theme—whether it’s princesses, superheroes, animals, boho festival vibes, or something totally unique.
Absolutely! Face painting isn’t just for kids—festival-style designs, glitter looks, and more detailed artistic styles are popular for teens and adults.
Face painting is a great option for parties, corporate events, staff appreciation, weddings, festivals, craft fairs, and more!
For outdoor events, a covered or indoor backup space is recommended. Face painting cannot be performed in rain, high winds, or extreme heat for safety and quality reasons.
